FFA 233 DIGITAL INK & PAINT- ( FINAL ) Finished Artwork

Image
Hi  ʕ´•ᴥ•`ʔσ”  I'm happy to present my final artwork.... ( I learned a lot of beneficial techniques along the way ) Thank you to my lecturer & friends for the guidance and support! The original idea was inspired when I was listening to Pixar's Nemo Soundtrack.  I'm sorry if it didn't look like the original sketchh~  I really wanted to add more steampunk elements into this painting, maybe that's why.    A little description behind this concept.. Firstly, the submarine on the left had been deserted for a long time and (the figure wearing  top hat) wanted to bring back the old machine. The setting is at a cove, with a city on top of the mountains. They have bridges they can cross to the city. You can see a flight of airships right behind the clouds. It is a cloudy day indeed (and foggy).  ~(‾⌣‾~) Here are the steps on how I do it:  1. Not much is there yet, just some rocks and mountains. 2. Now I a...

FFA 233 DIGITAL INK & PAINT - Week 12 (Progress 4)

Image
By Week 12, I've already learned many things about Photoshop CS6 compared to when I first used it. Miss Sheila suggested that I should explore and download brushes from websites. Therefore I downloaded a batch and that was the best decision I've made. I also finally got to superimpose properly. :D Step 1: Superimposed a castle up on the mountains. Overlayed darker colours on the front rocks, and lighter as they get farther. Step 2 : Added details to the castle Step 3: Wanted to create an atmosphere of sunrise and fog. Miss Sheila advised to decrease the amount of same-sized fog, because if not it'll look like a pattern. Instead, make some a little bigger than others (size of brush).

FFA 233 DIGITAL INK & PAINT - Week 11 (Progress 3)

Image
Week 11 already, and I can't change my mind anymore at this point. I've decided which sketch I want to continue working on. Although sometimes I feel like adding this and that, I'm trying my best to restrain from making another sketch. (well maybe I did one) very troubling when you're an indecisive person. So... after two weeks, in the end I pick to improve my first sketch because Miss Sheila approved of that sketch :D How bad can it turn out, right? Before this sketch, had some attempts on superimposing images but it looks like a bad photoshop image, so I think its better to get advice from my lecturer first. A gif to show the difference. I added some details, trees and forest on the right and a different ship. Miss Sheila taught me to superimpose with a few steps in Photoshop.

FFA233 DIGITAL INK & PAINT - WEEK 10 (Progress 2)

Image
Week 10 becomes quite difficult for me, as I changed my mind back and forth on what to add on my perspective drawing to make it seem more... Steampunk? Redo some sketches to get the right feel. Didn't feel satisfied with my work yet. This week focuses on colour scheme. I tried to combine different colours. Sketch (substitute) The fisheye view perspective turns out to be more difficult than it looks xD . Maybe this one will have to pass. Next is the sketch I presented:- I'm more satisfied with this version.  Step 1  Step 2 Step 3: I added a reflection of steam-engined air balloon ships on the water ( if thats what its called..)

FFA233 DIGITAL INK & PAINT - Week 9 (Progress 1)

Image
I never drew anything themed Steampunk before. Therefore, I'm not very familiar with it. My first impression is - Steampunk is only about Mecha. But after I researched to get to knoww what it is... I discovered that its elements consists of- Victorian era, Science fiction, a lot of gears and copper, rusty looking atmosphere and old technology that had been modernized  (using steam engines)... Okayy finally I get the picture. I like Steampunk a lot more now because its a really cool theme to get in depth. Anyhow, this is my sketch that I presented to Miss Sheila:- Its supposed to be a ship sailing towards the ocean, and out of a city. You can see there's a bridge at the end of the horizon. I really like atmospheric sceneries so I this is what I'm trying to achieve. A rough sketch Applying dark and light tones to distinguish far and near objects - the nearer the object the clearer the colour Adding lighting to create form Final touches- cre...

FFA 233 DIGITAL INK & PAINT - Perspective Study

Image
Perspective drawing is very challenging. I almost gave up the first time I tried to draw Two-point perspective and *coughs* not to mention challenging bit... - Three Point Perspective. Nevertheless I believe practice makes perfect, therefore explains why perspective study is very important for us students.  Perspective:  a technique used to represent three-dimensional images on a two-dimensional picture plane. - Google definition From my perspective, perspective drawing gives drawing a structured look. Like everything felt like they're in the right place and its all so neat and it felt genuine. So now I know a bit of one point perspective, two point perspective & also three point perspective (this one is killing me).   The simple exercises on introduction to types of perspectives Firstly, draw the lines as many as you could from the vanishing point & then draw the boxes. I made a mistake by doing it backwards. lol
